Players of People's Postcode Lottery have teamed up with Disability Nottingham as part of an exciting new choir aimed to promote the voice of local people with disabilities.
The Our Voice Community Choir will be open to those with disabilities, long-term health conditions, their carers, families, friends and other people living in Mansfield.
The project will provide an opportunity for isolated and vulnerable members of the community to come together and unite through the medium of music, regardless of background and ability.
A total of £9,228 was awarded to the group in order to asssist with the purchase of materials, a PA system, a keyboard and towards the services of a professional choir master.
Claire Staples, Community Support Worker said “The project will provide an opportunity for isolated and vulnerable members of the community to come together and unite through the medium of music.
Singing bonds people together, exercises a range of muscles and makes you feel happy. People can feel very isolated and singing is an excellent way to combat that and create a positive and inclusive community.”
