How to Apply
The application process for the small grants programme is very simple. All you need to do for both under and over £2,000 is complete our online application form and submit the required supporting documents.
There are a number of funding criteria that all projects must meet. Please ensure that your project fits at least ONE of the following:
- Prevention of poverty
- Improvement of health
- Promotion of community development
- Advance participation in sport
- Promotion of human rights
- Promotion of environmental protection
The list below shows the key things we do and don’t fund:
What We Fund

Projects that aim to make a difference to local communities

Registered charities, voluntary organisations, community interest companies and social enterprises

Requests from £500 - £10,000 (£5,000 in Wales)

Projects of a maximum of 6 months in duration

Projects that meet one of the six funding criteria

Purchase of capital items and equipment
|
|

|
Staff costs of up to 50% of total amount requested
|
|

|
Overhead costs of up to 20% of the total amount requested
|
|

|
Marketing costs of up to 10% of the total amount requested

|

|
Building renovations that have an ecological or wider impact on the services an organisation can provide

What We Don't Fund
|

|
Projects and organisations that are not based in or do not bring a benefit to Scotland, England or Wales
|
|

|
General promotional appeals, or website development
|
|

|
Events such as day trips, galas/festivals, residential breaks, conferences or activity weekends
|
|

|
Hospices or end of life care
|
|

|
Statutory bodies or projects that the state has an obligation to provide (inc. schools/PTAs, councils and local authorities)
|
|

|
Medical advice, equipment or research; or any other type of feasibility or research studies
|
|

|
Building renovations that are purely for cosmetic purposes
|
This is not a full list of everything that we do and don’t fund. Please read the Guidance Notes fully to ensure that you are aware of what is eligible for funding.

People’s Postcode Trust funds areas where players of People’s Postcode Lottery are at the highest intensity. This means that we currently only accept applications from the following regions at the following times:

You must read the guidance notes before you apply – we are unable to accept applications for ineligible projects, so please check that you meet the criteria. We would also recommend that you read the document ‘Completing the Application Form’ as this will provide you with useful advice on how to fill in the form.
