Feeding the community in Chichester

Chichester District Foodbank opened in September 2012 and provides 3-day emergency food parcels and support for families in crisis.

Originally set up in Chichester, the foodbank now also supports deprived rural communities across the district through satellites in Selsey, Petworth and Midhurst.

Through a grant from People’s Postcode Trust, Chichester District Foodbank aimed to provide fortnightly lunch packs to children on free school meals, during the Easter, Summer and Christmas holidays.

Due to COVID-19 the need has arisen for the foodbank to offer these lunch packs on a weekly basis to those most in need. With the social distancing and lockdown measures in place these packs are now delivered and left at the beneficiary’s door by a member of the charity or a volunteer. This change in the way they are working ensures that they continue to support their community during this time.
