Keeping Children safe in Southampton
Action Against Abduction develops policy and practice to prevent child abduction.
Their main programme of work is developing and delivering the "Clever Never Goes" child safety programme to schools across the UK. This charity was a co-winner of the PPL 'Dream Fund' in 2014 and were awarded a People’s Postcode Trust grant to pilot 'Clever Never Goes' in 2017. The charity has produced numerous studies to highlight the extent and type of child abduction and works closely with police and government.
The original Clever Never Goes schools programme was developed for Key Stage 1 children (aged 5 to 7). Through funding from People’s Postcode Trust in 2019, Action Against Abduction were able to produce new teaching materials for older children (Key Stage 2 aged 7 to 11), reflecting their greater maturity and increasing independence both outside the home, for example, walking to school, and online.
