Support for Somali Women in London

A study by the Anti-Tribalism Movement and The Council of Somali Organisations found Somali women were more likely to be targets of hate, abuse, and discrimination in the United Kingdom.

In order to combat this The Council of Somali Organisations received funds from People’s Postcode Trust to deliver “My Life My Rights”. This project aimed to bring together Somali women in order to equip them with the information and leadership skills required to increase awareness of their rights.   Workshops explored and examined topics on human rights, domestic violence, civic responsibility and hate crime.

The aim of the training was for women to better understand their rights and position in                  their societies, a means to give them a voice.
